About
Born in Bogota, I am Colombian-Spanish, I studied a BA in Fine Art at Universidad de Bogota Jorge Tadeo Lozano (1994-1998), I completed an MA in Digital Arts at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona (2002-2003) and finished a Postgraduate in Photography at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of the Arts, London (2009-2010).
Generally I have worked in photography, either analogue and digital, in series which there is a relationship between body, object and specific places and in which some properties of photography and photographs such as stillness and the fact of being a two dimensional object are highlighted. Main to my practice are concepts of mobility, stillness and connectedness, I reflect about reality and representation and more recently I have become interested in online social networks.
Most of my series are installed in the exhibition space and mean to modify the viewer's experience.
I have exhibited my work in museums, galleries and cultural centres such as the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Bogota, Corporales, (2002) and the Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogota, Tele-Vision, International Exhibition of Electronic Art (1999). In 2004 the Instituto Distrital de Cultura y Turismo provided me, Alejandro Mancera and Laura Ribero with funding for Electro-domestica, a project in photography and video done between Bogota and Barcelona exhibited at the Sala Alterna, Galeria Santa Fe, Centro cultural de Bogota, and rewived in Enser magazine, Barcelona (2005). I have held further exhibitions at Galeria Alliance Francaise, Construcciones, Bogota (2000) and Galeria Valenzuela y Klenner, Las cosas de donde vienen, Bogota, (2002), an exhibition reviewed in Art Nexus, a magazine on Latin American Art, and at Banco de la Republica, in which movible, an online project, was shown at the Net Art Colombia (2007-2008) an online exhibition with web-based media artworks, and my most recent work was part of the degree show Photography 2010 at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London (2010) and Index 7, Protein Gallery, Photomonth, Photography festival, London (2011) .
